Well, the truth of the matter is that no one has really found a real reason for the cause of ADD. Although, it can be really frustrating as a parent to find out that your child has ADD it is not your fault.
Research has proven that kids that have received the attention that they needed growing up, are equally susceptible to getting ADD as the kids that do not get enough attention.
So - What Causes Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)?
Many trained doctors and researchers have found it to be genetic and neurological in nature. Parents that have ADD are more likely to have children with the disorder then parents that do not inherit the disorder. Lots of brain research has been done for children with ADD and their seems to be a strong connection between certain brain functions and the disorder.
Doctors have been searching for an answer to the question "what causes ADD" for years and they seem to think it has a strong correlation with the brain because sufferers of the disorder consistently have a decreased amount of the dopamine chemical.
A big breakthrough in the study for the cause of attention deficit disorder happened when doctors and scientists recently discovered a big difference in the neural pathways of children with ADD and children without ADD. Neural pathways are how messages are sent through the brain. This pathway is how children get their motor control, attention span, planning skills, and impulsiveness. These areas are all key concerns in regard to figuring out the cause of ADD.
Although this information seems like a big break through there is still a lot more to learn about the disorder. All this tells us is that parents should not take responsibility for their child having the disorder, and that research is being done so we can understand ADD to its maximum.
